JCB has developed the 325T ForestMaster, a compact track loader specially designed to cope with the harsh working conditions encountered in the forestry and lumber industries. With additional protection for the operator and the machine, the ForestMaster 325T also incorporates a heavy-duty recovery winch. This specialized compact track loader is powered by JCB’s Ecomax Tier IV Final engine, without the need for an expensive Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) or aftertreatment.
• Recovery winch considerably reducing downtime
• Front work light protection and FOPS protection for air conditioning and taillights
• Track tube protector plus hydraulic flexible and auxiliary coupler protector
• Lexan windshield with hinged front guard and Level 2 FOPS
The 325T’s Ecomax engine delivers 74 hp (55 kW) over a wide rev range from just 1,200 rpm. This high-torque engine features an advanced combustion system, with ultra-high common rail fuel injection pressures and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), allowing it to meet emissions standards. Tier IV Final without the need for a DPF filter or a long regeneration.
This is especially important in forestry applications, as the heat created during regeneration creates a fire hazard when combined with large amounts of bales and sawdust. Without the need for DPF or regeneration, the 325T can continue to run productively, while other machines may need to be removed from the work area and remain idle during regeneration, according to the manufacturer.
The lack of cumbersome exhaust aftertreatment allowed JCB design engineers to maintain a low engine cowl design, improving visibility from the cab and on-site safety. The EcoMAX engine can be depolluted for the resale of machines in non-regulated territories, thus increasing the residual values for the customer.
The ForestMaster 325T benefits from a complete protection kit that includes an exhaust cover to prevent debris from entering the engine compartment, rear cabin glass screen, left quarter panel protection and tube protection steel for the high flow auxiliary circuit. Additionally, customers can specify front working light guard, loader hydraulic hose and auxiliary coupler guards, air conditioning, FOPS guard with side guard, cooling pack guard, and crawler tube guard. .
The machine incorporates a full height side entry door, made possible by JCB’s Powerboom design, which allows operators to easily enter and exit the cab without having to step over dangerous accessories. In addition, the cab comes with FOPS Level 2 protection with steel mesh on the left and right windows and a Lexan front windshield with a hinged front guard grille for easy cleaning.
A rear mounted winch has been specially designed for the ForestMaster, ensuring that operators can easily retrieve the machine when working in swampy ground. The swivel mount allows for daily checks and the winch design ensures a starting angle of 28.7 degrees, so there is no reduction in maneuverability on inclines.
The ForestMaster 325T can be equipped with a 60 ” wide (15.2 cm) mulching head with up to 45 cutting hammers. The ForestMaster is a highly productive, versatile and well-protected forestry machine for contractors, with all the benefits of JCB’s industry-leading line of skid steer loaders and skid steers.
